The Sudanese Doctors Network described the events that took place in the “Zamzam” camp for displaced persons in El Fasher, western Sudan, as a “full-fledged humanitarian crime”, affirming that the international silence over what is happening reflects blatant complicity and an abandonment of moral and legal responsibilities.
In a statement published today and reviewed by Al-Hamish’s Voice, the Sudanese Doctors Network expressed deep sorrow over the grave violations committed against innocent civilians in the “Zamzam” and “Abu Shouk” camps, including systematic killing, displacement, and starvation carried out by the RSF.
The Network added that the stance of the international community including the United Nations, the Security Council, and all affiliated and non-affiliated organizations reflects an unjustified state of paralysis and inaction. It considered the lukewarm responses of certain actors as nothing less than indirect complicity.
The statement stressed that the crimes committed in the “Zamzam” camp are well-documented and not a passing crisis, warning that the failure to take concrete action to stop them constitutes a grave dereliction of the duty to protect unarmed civilians and a stain on the conscience of humanity.
The Sudanese Doctors Network held the international community fully responsible, both morally and legally, for what has happened and is ongoing at the camp. It called for an urgent international investigation into the attacks, accountability for those involved, and concrete measures to protect civilians and prevent the recurrence of such crimes.
