Transitional Sovereign Council Chairman, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, delivered a message to Chinese President Xi Jinping through China’s Ambassador to Sudan, Zhang Xianghua. The message focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of oil extraction, following the arrival of South Sudanese oil at Bashayer Port.
Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Idris Ismail, stated in a press briefing that General Al-Burhan’s meeting with the Chinese Ambassador focused on ways to enhance bilateral relations across various sectors, with a particular emphasis on cooperation in the oil industry. He noted that the message is part of ongoing efforts to advance and deepen this partnership.
The ambassador noted that the Chinese side appreciated the efforts undertaken by the Sudanese government to achieve stability and peace, and reaffirmed China’s commitment to continuing its support for these efforts.
For his part, the Chinese ambassador explained that the meeting discussed the implementation of the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, which was attended by the Chairman of the Sovereign Council last year. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation across various sectors through coordinated efforts between the relevant ministries of both countries.
Zhang Xianghua affirmed that Sudan has made significant progress in the areas of security, peace, and development, noting that his country values these earnest efforts and is committed to advancing the strategic partnership between the two nations.
