This morning, suicide drones launched by the rebel militia targeted several locations in the city of Port Sudan. Among the sites hit were the Osman Digna Air Base, a goods warehouse, and other civilian facilities.
Brigadier General Nabil Abdullah, official spokesperson for the Sudanese Armed Forces, confirmed that ground defenses responded to the attack and successfully downed several drones. However, some managed to cause limited damage, including a strike on an ammunition depot inside the Osman Digna Air Base, which triggered scattered explosions but resulted in no casualties among personnel.
Following the attack, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, President of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, inspected the air base to assess the extent of the damage and oversee the ongoing defensive operations.
According to local sources cited by Al-Hamish’s Voice , authorities temporarily closed Port Sudan Airport and the surrounding airspace following an attack involving five drones that targeted the airport and the Bashayer area. The Civil Aviation Authority later announced the reopening of the airspace and the resumption of flights after the situation was brought under control.
The city witnessed loud explosions and plumes of smoke rising into the sky, while authorities continue to monitor the aftermath of the attack and secure the affected areas.
