Sudan’s newly appointed transitional Prime Minister, Kamal Idris, stressed in a televised address to the nation this afternoon that restoring state authority and securing national stability by fully eliminating armed rebellions and militias is a non-negotiable national priority. He warned that the government will show zero tolerance towards any attempts to destabilize the country or undermine its sovereignty.
Idris called on countries supporting militias to immediately cease these “criminal operations,” warning that any foreign interference would only prolong the conflict and pose a threat to regional peace.
On the justice front, the Prime Minister affirmed that the government is committed to establishing institutions grounded in the rule of law -including the Public Prosecution, the Judiciary, and the Constitutional Court- emphasizing the imperative of upholding justice, ensuring the rule of law, and advancing sustainable development.
Regarding foreign relations, Idris highlighted that Sudan will seek to improve and develop its ties with the Arab and African regions, as well as with all countries worldwide, in a manner that serves the interests of the people and enhances the country’s regional and international standing.
The Prime Minister affirmed that the transitional government will lead this phase with determination and efficiency to achieve stability and build state institutions. He called for the concerted national efforts to support reconstruction, reparations, and the restructuring of state institutions on civil and professional foundations.
He also announced his full support for small and medium-sized enterprises as a fundamental pillar for driving the national economy, emphasizing his close connection to the concerns of the Sudanese people and his commitment to listening to the voices of the public and their issues.
In conclusion, Kamal Idris praised the Armed Forces, the regular forces, the joint forces, and the popular resistance across all sectors, appreciating their national role in defending Sudan’s unity and sovereignty. He also expressed gratitude to the supportive countries, as well as regional and international organizations, that supported Sudan in its struggle for national independence and peace.
