Khartoum / Al-Hamish’s Voice – August 28, 2025: The Sudanese Doctor’s Network announced that 24 people were killed and 55 others injured, including five women, as a result of artillery shelling carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Wednesday in the city of Al Fashir, North Darfur State. The network explained that the shelling targeted the central market and Awlad Al-Reef neighborhood, describing the attack as “deliberate”.
The network condemned what it described as a “heinous massacre,” adding that it comes as part of a series of crimes and violations against civilians in the city. It noted that Al Fashir has been suffering for more than a year under a suffocating siege and severe shortages of food, medicine, and basic services.
The statement stressed that targeting densely populated residential areas constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, holding the international community, the UN Security Council and the African Union responsible for their “silence and failure to confront the crimes committed against civilians”.
The Sudanese Doctor’s Network called for urgent action to stop the shelling and lift the siege on Al Fashir, urging international pressure on the leadership of RSF to halt what it described as “genocide and systematic starvation”.
