Khartoum / Al-Hamish’s Voice -September 6, 2025. The Sudanese mission to the United Nations has submitted a new official complaint to the Security Council, accusing the United Arab Emirates of direct involvement in the ongoing war in Sudan through the recruitment, financing, and deployment of hundreds of foreign mercenaries -particularly from Colombia- to fight alongside the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The memorandum, which was distributed to Council members, indicated that between 350 and 380 Colombian mercenaries had been recruited through private security firms based in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, most notably the “Global Security Services Group (GSSG)” and the “Agency for International Services (A4SI).” According to the document, these mercenaries were transferred via Somalia, Libya, and Chad to Darfur, where they took part in the siege and assaults on the city of Al Fashir and other areas.
The Sudanese government accused the UAE of financing airlifts to transport mercenaries and weapons into Sudan, noting that no fewer than 248 flights were carried out between November 2024 and February 2025 to airports in Darfur and North Kordofan.
The complaint also included details of the mercenaries’ use of banned weapons such as white phosphorus in attacks targeting civilian areas, in addition to the recruitment and training of child soldiers. It stressed that these practices had led to widespread violations, including extrajudicial executions, the destruction of civilian buildings, and the looting of natural resources such as gold and livestock.
The Sudanese memorandum cited Colombian media reports and statements by President Gustavo Petro, who confirmed the deaths of dozens of Colombian mercenaries in Sudan and condemned their involvement in the conflict.
Khartoum called on the Security Council to investigate what it described as “flagrant Emirati interference,” to condemn the cross-border influx of mercenaries and weapons, to hold those responsible accountable, and to designate the RSF as a terrorist organization.
