Khartoum /Al Hamish’s Voice – September 22, 2025 Transitional Sovereignty Council member Ibrahim Jaber held talks in Khartoum with United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sudan Denise Brown on Monday, discussing the humanitarian situation and ways to facilitate the delivery of aid to people affected by the conflict.
Jaber reaffirmed the government’s commitment to facilitating the work of international organizations and UN agencies in delivering aid, pointing to the efforts already underway to reach those affected.
He also called for a greater role from the international community in protecting civilians and improving the humanitarian situation in the country, according to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA).
For her part, Brown affirmed the United Nations’ commitment to supporting Sudan in addressing humanitarian and development challenges, working with the government and international partners to mobilize support and deliver assistance to those in need, in addition to contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Sudan is witnessing one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises since the outbreak of war between the Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in April 2023.
According to United Nations estimates, more than 10 million people have been displaced inside and outside the country, while around 25 million are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, including food, medicine, and water. Relief organizations have also warned of the risk of famine in some areas due to blockades and obstacles to aid delivery.
