Activists and local sources in North Darfur reported that drones, believed to be operated by the Sudanese Armed Forces, carried out an attack on the town of Al-Kuma on Saturday, October 11, killing 13 civilians and injuring seven others with varying degrees of wounds.
Eyewitnesses said the strike targeted residential areas in the city center, causing extensive damage to homes and shops. The attack also sparked panic among residents, some of whom fled to nearby villages.
The sources confirmed that all the victims were civilians, including women and children, noting that some of the injured are still receiving treatment under difficult conditions due to a shortage of medicines and medical supplies.
Activists and local organizations called for an urgent and independent investigation into the incident and for those responsible for targeting civilians to be held accountable, stressing that what happened constitutes “a new massacre added to the series of violations against residents in North Darfur.”
Human rights organizations have called on the United Nations and the African Union to urgently intervene to stop the indiscriminate attacks, protect civilians in conflict areas, and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the affected regions in North Darfur.
