Dozens of civilians were killed and others injured in an airstrike carried out yesterday by the Sudanese Air Force on the town of Tura, located in the far northwest of El Fasher, in what has been described as a horrific massacre.
In a statement reviewed by Alhamish Voice, Emergency Lawyers group reported that the strike targeted a densely populated area, calling it a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and a war crime under the Geneva Conventions and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
The group demanded an independent investigation to ensure those responsible for the attack are held accountable by international courts. It also called for urgent legal measures to prosecute those involved in ordering and executing the airstrike. Additionally, the statement urged an end to the targeting of civilians and the imposition of severe sanctions on those responsible for such violations.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to documenting these crimes and working to bring the perpetrators to justice, emphasizing the need to end impunity and ensure justice for the victims.
