In a newly released report highlighting the growing wave of violations against journalists, the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) disclosed that five media professionals were killed by RSF in under two months. The IFJ has called for an immediate and transparent investigation to ensure accountability for these crimes.
The IFJ, in a statement seen by Al-Hamish’s voice, reported that Ahmed Mohamed Salih Sayidna, Director of the Radio Division at the North Darfur State Radio and Television Corporation, was killed on April 13 as a result of indiscriminate shelling by RSF on the city of El Fasher. The statement noted that this attack came after the killing of three journalists and a driver from Sudan National Television on March 1, while they were covering events in the capital, Khartoum.
The IFJ, working in partnership with the Sudanese Journalists Syndicate, stressed that targeting media professionals constitutes a blatant violation of international law and press freedom. It called on the international community and human rights organizations to urgently intervene to ensure the safety of journalists and hold those responsible for these attacks accountable.
