The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N), led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu, renewed its artillery shelling on Friday evening targeting Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan State. The attack resulted in the deaths of five civilians, including women and children, and left more than 15 others injured, some critically.
As reported by Al-Hamish’s Voice, local sources said the shelling targeted a city neighborhood during a wedding celebration, resulting in casualties and widespread panic among residents.
This attack marks the second consecutive day of shelling, as the city had been subjected to a similar bombardment by SPLM forces on Thursday evening, resulting in injuries and material damage. Official sources described the escalation as a “terrorist crime” targeting innocent civilians.
Military sources stated that this shelling comes after a “heavy field defeat” suffered by the Sudan People’s Movement forces this morning in the Dikka area, located northeast of Kadugli, where fierce clashes took place between them and the Sudanese army, ending with the withdrawal of the movement’s forces.
