Khartoum / Al Hamish’s Voice – October 17, 2025.
A group of political forces and parties to the peace agreements announced, at the conclusion of their meetings in the city of Port Sudan, the formation of an independent national committee to manage the Sudanese internal dialogue. The move was described as an attempt to unify political visions and build a common national stance to end the war and achieve a comprehensive political settlement.
The final statement issued at the conclusion of the meetings stressed the need to create a conducive political and security environment to ensure the success of the dialogue process. It emphasized the importance of ceasing hostilities, protecting civilians, and guaranteeing freedom of political and media activity during the coming phase.
The statement also announced the formation of a committee for political outreach to various national groups, aimed at coordinating with forces that did not take part in the Port Sudan meetings and inviting them to participate in the upcoming comprehensive Sudanese dialogue conference, which is scheduled to be held inside the country in the near future.
The participating forces stressed that the Sudanese dialogue must be inclusive, without excluding any national party, and should take place inside the country with the participation of all political, civil, and societal actors under independent national supervision. They welcomed international and regional efforts aimed at ending the war, provided such efforts respect national sovereignty and Sudan’s independent decision-making.
The statement explained that the meetings were held in response to an invitation from the political committee and “out of a sense of national responsibility to confront the dangers facing the country as a result of the brutal aggression by the rebel RSF, which are backed from abroad.” It added that the upcoming dialogue seeks to forge a unified national vision representing all political and civil forces inside the country and to outline a roadmap for the post-war period.
The political forces affirmed in their concluding statement that the path to lasting peace lies through a comprehensive national consensus that fulfills the aspirations of the Sudanese people for security, stability, and the establishment of a civil, democratic state founded on justice and equal citizenship.
