The Sudan Doctors’ Network reported that seven civilians, including women and children, were killed and five others seriously injured after a drone belonging to the RSF targeted the children’s hospital in the city of Kornoi, North Darfur, on Monday.
The network stated in a press release that among the injured were two children who were receiving treatment inside the hospital at the time of the attack, describing the incident as a “fully constituted war crime representing another face of systematic terror and brutal aggression against life itself.”
The statement added that targeting a medical facility dedicated to treating children “demonstrates the extent of the RSF’ escalation in killing and destruction, turning innocent civilians into daily targets of their fire in Darfur.”
The network held the RSF fully responsible for the incident, calling on the international community and human rights and medical organizations to “break their shameful silence” and take urgent action to stop crimes against civilians in Sudan.
For months, areas in North and West Darfur have witnessed an escalation in fighting, amid UN and human rights reports detailing systematic targeting of civilians and medical facilities and violations that may amount to war crimes.
