Last night, forces of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N), led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu, targeted a tribal celebration organized by the Hawazma Emirate in the city of Um Barmbita, South Kordofan State.
Sources told Al-Hamish’s Voice that the attack was carried out through heavy artillery shelling during the celebration, which had been organized in support of the armed forces. The shelling caused participants to disperse and led to the cancellation of the event’s proceedings.
It confirmed that the attack took place while hundreds of members of the Hawazma tribe were gathered to pledge their allegiance to the armed forces and reaffirm their support for the army in confronting the armed rebellion.
According to the sources, the indiscriminate shelling caused widespread panic among civilians. As of the time of reporting, no confirmed casualties had been reported.
Reports indicate that elements of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been using “the Sarafaya” militarybase as a joint staging ground for launching attacks on various areas across South Kordofan State.
