Sudan’s Humanitarian Aid Commissioner, Salwa Adam Bunya, has accused international organizations of directing humanitarian assistance to areas under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), such as Al-Fulah in West Kordofan, while neglecting the city of El Fasher, which is facing a dire humanitarian situation and urgent needs.
Salwa Adam Bunya, stated that relief trucks are passing through areas such as Adré and Tina without any obstruction from the government, and that permits are being granted for entry into Darfur and West Kordofan. However, she noted that aid is not reaching the city of El Fasher, despite its catastrophic humanitarian situation.
Bunya questioned, “If the government has granted humanitarian organizations permission to enter, and the RSF are allowing aid to pass even to Al-Fulah, then why is humanitarian aid not reaching El Fasher, which is among the most critically in need areas in Sudan?”
She also confirmed that thousands of displaced people from the Zamzam camp are living in the open, without food or medicine, while aid is being directed to other, less-affected areas. She criticized the stance of some organizations that have chosen neutrality, describing it as complicity with the forces occupying the area.
The commissioner affirmed that the Sudanese government is committed to delivering aid to all citizens, including those in areas controlled by the RSF or Abdelaziz al-Hilu’s movement. She pointed to a previous instance in which aid was airdropped into al-Hilu-held territories via Juba.
