The Sudanese Armed Forces announced that, during a sweep and clearance operation in southern Omdurman, they discovered mass graves and freed a large number of civilians who had been held by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) -led by the Dagalo family- inside a school in the Salha area.
According to a statement from the Sudanese Armed Forces, received by Al-Hamish’s Voice on Thursday, a total of 648 civilians had been held captive and used as human shields under extremely dire humanitarian conditions. Of those, 465 reportedly died due to starvation, dehydration, medical neglect, and lack of healthcare. They were buried in mass graves, some containing more than 27 bodies at a single site.
The Armed Forces stated that the majority of detainees were forcibly taken from their homes without due process, constituting a severe violation of human rights.
In a related development, activists on social media circulated a video featuring a former detainee of the RSF in Salha, who gave harrowing testimony about the conditions of imprisonment. He confirmed the existence of mass graves containing hundreds of victims who died from hunger and thirst over several days without any humanitarian intervention.
These developments come amid a swift push to reclaim territories formerly controlled by The RSF .
