The Humanitarian Aid Commission in Sudan has described the international community’s silence in the face of the repeated violations committed by the terrorist RSF as implicit support for the group and the entities backing it. The Commission warned that “timid” statements without concrete punitive measures only embolden the RSF to escalate its crimes against civilians.
In a statement received by Al-Hamesh’s voice on Tuesday, the Commission stated that the ongoing violations particularly in the Zamzam, Abu Shouk, and Abuja camps pose a direct threat to the lives of thousands of displaced persons, in addition to the ongoing siege imposed on the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State.
The Commission strongly condemned, in the harshest terms, the “heinous” crime committed by the RSF against civilians and medical staff inside the Zamzam IDP camp. It noted that the RSF carried out the killing and execution of a number of innocent individuals, and assassinated a field medical team affiliated with the U.S.-based global relief organization, which had been providing medical services inside the camp despite the dire humanitarian and security conditions.
The Commission confirmed that the number of victims among the medical personnel reached nine individuals, all of whom were cold-bloodedly killed in what it described as a “horrific” scene that unfolded before the eyes of the world and its humanitarian institutions, which remained silent and inactive.
The Commission extended its condolences to the families of the civilian victims and the staff of the relief organization, wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded, and reaffirming its commitment to continuing its humanitarian mission despite the mounting challenges.
