The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on the United Nations Security Council to take more effective measures to implement its resolution on Sudan, stressing that the RSF, which it described as a “terrorist militia,” pays no heed to appeals that are not followed by punitive and deterrent actions against its leaders and regional backers.
In a press statement received by Al-Hamesh’s Voice on Friday, the ministry said it had closely followed the latest Security Council statement regarding the brutal attacks on the city of El Fasher and displacement camps, which are targeting civilians on ethnic grounds.
The ministry welcomed the Security Council’s explicit condemnation of the RSF for its repeated attacks on the Zamzam and Abu Shouk camps and its demand for the immediate lifting of the siege on El Fasher and the cessation of assaults in accordance with Resolution 2736 (2024).
The statement further noted that the RSF has responded to international demands by intensifying its attacks and blocking humanitarian aid to El Fasher, describing this as part of a “genocidal campaign against the communities of Darfur, orchestrated by its regional sponsor.”
The ministry affirmed that the time has come for the international community to take concrete steps to hold those responsible for these atrocities accountable and to uphold the principle of no
impunity.
