Khartoum / Al-Hamish’s Voice – September 9, 2025. The World Food Programme said that the cities of Al Fashir and Kadugli remain under siege and largely cut off from humanitarian aid, noting that any temporary ceasefire could make the difference between life and death for thousands of families.
The Programme explained that “even a few days of peace could mean families are able to eat -some for the first time in days,” stressing that its food-laden trucks are ready to move but require safe passage.
It added that short humanitarian truces provide a vital window to safely deliver food, water, and medicine to the most vulnerable communities stranded by ongoing violence.
The Programme renewed its call on all parties in Sudan to agree to halt the fighting and allow the unhindered passage of life-saving humanitarian assistance.
