Khartoum /Al Hamish’s Voice – September 16, 2025. The World Food Programme said it is still awaiting approval from the RSF for a humanitarian pause that would allow the delivery of food assistance to the city of Al Fashir in North Darfur, which has not received any aid for more than a year.
The Programme explained in a statement received by Al Hamish’s Voice that it had already obtained the necessary permits from the Humanitarian Aid Commission, but the convoys cannot move without security guarantees from the RSF, which are imposing a stifling siege on the city.
Humanitarian reports confirmed that thousands of families in Al Fashir are now surviving on cash transfers from their relatives, amid a shortage of basic food supplies and soaring prices of what is available in the local market to levels unaffordable for most residents.
Observers warn that the continued delay in the delivery of aid risks triggering a large-scale humanitarian catastrophe, as cases of child malnutrition rise and life-saving medicines become critically scarce.
